Julia Jung is a research assistant in Dr. Dong’s lab and an incoming Master’s student in the Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics (CBB) program at Yale University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Her interest in biomedical research began with a curiosity about how complex diseases emerge and evolve at the molecular level, and how these processes can be better understood through data. During her undergraduate studies, she explored this interest through research in cancer genomics and multi-omics analysis, including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, with a particular focus on tumor progression and recurrence. Through both research and experiences in clinical and community healthcare settings, she has developed a strong motivation to connect computational insights with real-world impact. She is particularly interested in using data-driven approaches to better understand disease mechanisms and improve disease prediction. In the Dong Lab, her research interests include leveraging multi-omics approaches to investigate neurological disorders and other complex diseases. In her spare time, Julia enjoy exploring local coffee shops and going on hikes.
